Or roughly translated to ‘’Test One’s Liver’’, ‘’Kimodameshi’’ is a Japanese philosophy meant to teach One ‘’how’’ to overcome One’s ‘’Fears’’. The Belief involves One placing Themselves in a scary situation (or dangerous one), in the attempt to ‘’conquer One’s Fear’’ – and thus overcome it. The most common method of Kimodameshi Training relates to the traditional Japanese Fear of Ghosts. It is thought to secure One inside a purported ‘’Haunted House’’ or even Graveyard – One will eventually overcome the anxiety. Of Course, as is pretext in MANY Japanese Ghost Stories – Evil Spirits seem to ALWAYS win. Still, there are actual Societies (Organizations) of Kimodameshi who charge money to help One get over such fears.
