Dating to the 2nd Century AD – ''Jupiter Columns'' were stone Pillars (Monuments) – erected (mostly) in Germania, with eventual Roman Occupation. The Pillars were dedicated to the 4 principle Roman Gods – ''Juno, Mercury, Minerva and Hercules''. Constructed on Shrine Altar Platforms (also of stone), they ranged from 15 to 25-feet in height. The Columns were used to help ''foster'' Roman Divinity and Religion. Normally, a different God's image (statue) graced the very top. The Monument Base also depicted different periods in Roman Mythology. Several examples still exist in many German Cities today.
