The Native American Iroquois have many Myths and Legends. Most of their personifications placed Humans as types of ''Divine'' Demi-Gods whose exploits formed much of Iroquois Beliefs. The mythical Race of Beings known as The ''Jo-Ga-Oh'' were a ''Clan'' (Tribe) of ''Little People'', akin to European tales of Leprechauns, Fairys and such. They were responsible for protecting many facets of Iroquois Culture, such as watching over Hunts, Harvests etc. The Jo-Ga-Oh also protected Nature (Forests, animals etc.) Seen as ''physical Beings'' of small stature, The Race (while helpful and benevolent to Man), shunned contact.
