A quaint Legend from 17th Century England, in the Northwestern Coastal Community of Tynemouth, England, is a series of ancient caves, overlooking The Sea. One cave in particular is nicknamed ‘’Jingling Geordie’s Hole’’. It is said that a Pirate named George, would go down to the small inlet below the cave – and light lanterns at night. Simulating a ‘’safe Port’’, He lured Ships be dashed upon the rocks. He then proceeded to kill any survivors, and steal gold and treasure. Georgie would climb up back to the cave (which is said to be so deep, it still hasn’t been explored in it’s entirety), and stash his ill-gotten loot. As He carried His treasure deeper and deeper into the cave, He would drop a coin or piece here and there – causing a ‘’jingling sound’’. It was said that The Pirate died inside His ‘’fortress’’. But when the Legend began and with many years passing – quite a few ‘’curious treasure seekers’’, have tried to find His lost plunder. Reports of a ‘’spectral figure’’ – warning away all trespassers, as well as persons unable to find the ’’end of the cave’’, have all led to The Tale. Perhaps mythos, but perhaps ‘’Jingling Geordie’s’’ Lost Treasure is still there, waiting to be found!
