As We have countless of times investigated – the 19th Century English Serial Killer, known as ‘’Jack The Ripper’’, even today resonates. MANY theories of ‘’who’’ he was and ‘’why’’ He did His heinous crimes abound. Hundreds of books, documentaries and often far fetched Movies can be found, examining one conclusion or another. But of the so called ‘’Canonical List’’ of ‘’accepted’’ Suspects, one name was not seriously considered until 1939. This was Mary Pearcey, who was given the turn of phrase nickname ‘’Jill The Ripper’’ as a pun for ‘’Jack The Ripper’’ (or ‘’Jack and Jill’’). It seems the idea was originally explored by none other that British Mystery and Adventure Writer, Sir. Arthur Conan Doyle (who Himself was declared a Suspect). But it was not until 1939 that Pearcey was advanced as a Suspect.

Living in The Whitechapel District of London, Mary Pearcey claimed to be (or at least passed Herself of as, a Midwife). Common Law married, She had a slew of affairs – but it was Her last (with another married man), that would prove to be Her undoing. Mary was advanced as a ‘’Ripper Suspect’’ as such. The Police never seriously considered that a Woman could be a Murderer (especially one as brutal as ‘’Saucy Jack’’). But it appears that Her ‘’Lover’’ also frequented many Prostitutes. He may have even contracted the dreaded disease, Syphilis. Naturally, after prolonged ‘’exposure’’, Pearcey may too have contracted the ‘’death sentence’’ as well. It is assumed that She developed an intense hatred for ‘’ladies of The Evening’’. Owing to the fact that The Ripper Cases were linked to someone with some medical knowledge of dissection, a practicing Midwife would (no doubt), not only fit then profile – She may have also had some instrumentation (knives, scalpels etc.)

Perhaps after ‘’ridding London’’ of the known Ripper victims, Pearcey (who would never have been even stopped, covered in spatters of blood – as a practicing Midwife), would stop in Her rage (1888) until 1890. Perhaps She wished to exact revenge on Her ‘’unfaithful Lover’’, by slaughtering His Wife and young Child. She did just that, beating both to a bloody pulp with a fireplace poker – and later stabbing and hacking their corpses. In Her Lover’s Wife case, Pearcey almost decapitated Her ‘’with a knife’’. Calmly and without the slightest emotion, Pearcey loaded the two bodies into a cart – covered it, and proceeded n full daylight, to a nearby Alley. She dumped the two bodies and calmly sent back home. When Police found Her Victims remains and pieced together the fact that She had been readily seen by many in The Public, They searched Her Home. She concealed nothing. Blood…gore…even murder weapons. When pressed? Pearcey stated that she had been ‘’killing Rats’’.

A fast trial and conviction found Mary Pearcey judged for the death sentence. She was hung by the neck to a crowd of 30,000 in 1890. Her story known but never linked to the infamous Ripper Cases until 1939, some state that Pearcy may have even been an accomplice of Jack (meaning two Killers). Pearcey was described as ‘’physically strong’’ for a Woman and ‘’devoid of emotion’’. It was also in this that Arthur Conan Doyle was linked, stating by some that he ‘’created’’ the rumor of a ‘’Woman Killer’’ to provide proof that He was in fact, Jack The Ripper. Dressing as a Woman, He was able to strike His victims without fear of capture. Doyle may have even linked the real life criminal exploits of Pearcy (from the Newspapers), as part of His subterfuge.
