Ancient Greek Mythology shows a real King by the name of ‘’Ixion’’ – who ruled (quite viciously) – Thessaly. Noted for His cheating of suitors for His Wife (Queen), He was also quite cruel to His Subjects. After His death, Ixion would de resigned to Hades where – many think, He would become the ‘’first’’ Demon, or ‘’Tormentor of Man’’. He is personified as a ‘’Human with Dark Avian Wings’’ – often ‘’falling into Hades’’. Ixion was also ‘’borrowed’’ by Dante in His ‘’Inferno’’ narrative.
