Dating to Ancient Greek Mythology and the 12th Century AD – The Ichthyocentaurs were said to be be ''Half Man and Half Fish''. While similar to the later mythos of The Mermaid and Merman – they were in reality the personification of Sea Foam and Waves (as shown in Classical Art). They were also used as metaphor in Greek Literature.
