 The Country of Brazil has a tale about a mythical being called The Iara. The name translates to Water Queen . Her description changes somewhat from Region to Region (copper colored skin and green hair). She is also part Fish and Part Human (a type of Freshwater Mermaid). What is not changed is that The Iara is a very beautiful woman. She lives in the deep Regional Rivers and Lakes of Brazil. First told of around the 18th Century, Iara is Queen of a Tribe of somewhat aggressive (and ugly) Mermen. Her song is used to lure young human men into her clutches . She will not harm them, as she is seeking a Mate. Owing that humans do not live as long as Mer-People, she much sing several times in a Century. She is given to being the cause as to why so many Men vanish into The Brazilian Jungles.
