Of Ancient Greek beginnings, and later Roman, ‘’Hymen’’ was one of those rare Male Muses (Deity) – which was viewed as the masculine personification of both ‘’Love and Marriage’’ (at the time of Union). It was the Human Groom whom invoked His name BEFORE starting up for His ‘’ceremony’’ with is intended. Additionally, One prayed to Hymen – to ensure a ‘’good’’ Reception AFTER the Marriage Ritual. This was to make sure the Couple were ample Gifts (mostly land), and had a successful ‘’Wedding Night’’.
