In Haitian Voodoo Practices, a ''Humfo'' would be akin to an Altar – often constructed in One's Home. Much like other Western Christian practices of placing statuary, mementos, relics and other components of a particular Belief – onto Tables or shelves, The Humfo serves the same purpose. Humfos can be ''dedicated'' to a particular Ghede or Loa, or be constructed for the overall belief system in general. In full Temples, Humfro's are quite large and are designed to accept offerings to a particular Deity. Other comparative Caribbean Belief Systems also use a form of Humfro.
