A ''House Pole'' was a specific Icon used by The Kwakwaka'wakw Tribe of British Columbia, Canada. The somewhat ancient Culture of North American Natives believed that the creation and display of various Deities of that Culture, via wooden, Carved Icons, were important to the very protection of The Tribe in day to day matters. Akin to The South pacific ''Tiki'', The House Pole was placed on the main support pole (roof) of a Hut. They were viewed upon arriving at a Hut. Only with proper veneration, would One be allowed to enter. It was thought by The Tribe, that a ''Trickster'' (Demon), could not so honor a House Pole and thus, could not enter.
