This American legend/myth goes back many centuries among Native Americans. First recorded in the late 18th Century by European Settlers, The Hoop Snake was said to be a species of reptile that rather than the traditional crawling that a snake uses for propulsion, it would form a circle (or hoop) with it's body (by putting it's tail in it's mouth). Thus formed, The Hoop Snake would then right itself and begin to roll as a wheel! Not only travel, by used as an attack method The Hoop Snake became seen more as a tall tall than an actual Beastie (although there are those who swear............)
