It's origins differ from Region to Region. Possibly going back to Ancient Persia, the term Homonculus (meaning Little Man), is first seen in the 16th Century. These mythical creatures are created from magic (both good and evil). Ancient resurrection spells, coupled with bags or jars of small animal bones, meat, fluids etc. - this hodgepodge of elements will construct a small, humanoid creature (normally no larger than 12-inches tall). Capable to flight in some cases, The Homonculus is a familiar to a Wizard or Warlock. Created to do the bidding of it's Master, they have a very short lifespan. They are not always capable of speech (but can communicate either by telepathy or signals to their Creators). Homonculus are a stable of many Persian stories and fables.
