Another early North American Logger Myth , The Hidebehind was a story often told by Loggers (Woodsmen), in the 19th and early 20th Centuries. An Ape-like, Cat-like creature (possibly ) of black fur and sharp claws and fangs The Hidebehind had the ability to completely conceal itself by hiding behind ANY object it chose, so completely as it would not be seen. A master of concealment, The Hidebehind would lay in wait for an unsuspecting Logger and pounce. Dragging it's meal back to it's home, it would devour only the intestines! Many lost Loggers were attributed to The Hidebehind.
