''Hellboy'' (2004)

A fictional Creature Hero created by Mike Mignola in 1993 - Hellboy is a type of Anti-Hero. His real name was Anung Un Rama. Born in 1617 to a human Witch (who was the consort of the demon Azazel), repented of her sins before death. Taking her physical form to Hell, Azazel burned her away to get his Son. Removing his right hand and replacing it with The Right Hand of Doom - Azazel plotted to take over Hell from Lucifer. The other Archdemons of Hell (upon learning of this), stripped him of his power and condemned him to another dimension (but not before he was able to hide Rama (in a inter-dimension as well). Fast forward to Nazi Germany (1944). Hitler (a well known enthusiast of The Occult), entered into a deal with the undead Sorcerer - The Mad Monk Rasputin. He would give Hitler occult power to defeat The Allies and win World War II. In reality, Rasputin was using Hitlers resources to open the dimensional doorway to release Azazel into the world. Stopped in the middle of his incantation by an American Commando Force, Rasputin accidentally freed his Son, Anung Un Rama. The small creature resembled a Red Monkey, with curved horns and a gigantic right hand.. Befriended by a kindly Professor of The Occult (attached to The Commando's as an Adviser), Rama is renamed Hellboy, and taken back to a top secret base in America (to be raised as a normal boy). Only vaguely aware of his origins Hellboy grew up to be a powerful fighter for an ultra-Secret Paranormal Fighting Force  tasked with protecting The World from real otherworldly threats. A long running Graphic Novel and 3 Feature Films has made Hellboy a still popular legendary creature for many Fans.
