Skagway, Alaska (US) – was one of the popular (and few) ''stop overs'' for early 1890s Gold Miners, enroute to The Klondike. When Gold was discovered, it's ''Fever'' ignited not only the imagination of US Citizens, but people from all over The World. All were in search of that ''Great Mother Lode'' strike. Few found it. And neither did one ''Klondike Ike''. His real name is lost, but the popular Legend concerning Him is centered around The Skagway Hotel (which is still in operation today as The ''Golden North''). As the tale goes, Ike brought His Fiance with Him. It was assumed that he would ''strike it rich'', marry the girl and live the ''life of luxury''. The girl was put up in the Skagway Hotel and wait for Ike's return. He never did. Perhaps (as was common), Ike died in the snow and ice which claimed so many then. But Ike's girl was determined. She refused to leave The Hotel. She was found after several weeks, Her decomposing corpse wearing Her proposed Wedding Day Dress. Which brings us to today. Visitors to The Hotel claim, that The Girl is often ''seen'' wandering the 2nd Floor of The Hotel – still wearing Her Wedding Dress and still (apparently) ''waiting for Ike to return''.
