The RMS "Queen Mary" was The Cunard Passenger Line's most appointed and luxurious of Ships. Built in response to both Germany and France's dominance of similar Ships involved in the Transatlantic Crossing. "Queen Mary" had a long and colorful career. Launched in 1935, she remained in Service (in Peace and Wartime), until 1967. It is estimated that she transported some 2 Million people and traveled near 4 Million miles. Pressed into Military Service as a Troop Transport Ship, "Queen Mary" was responsible for moving 16,000 soldiers between Australia and England. Due to the re-painting of her Funnels to a Grey color, she was nicknamed "The Grey Ghost".

Decommissioned in 1967, she was purchased by The City of Long Beach, California - to be used as a Museum. Due to regulations, "Queen Mary" was converted into a "building". Almost all of her insides were were removed and renovated. Since the 1970s, she has been visited quite often, more so because of her "darker past". You see, RMS "Queen Mary" is considered one of the most "Haunted" Ships in The World. Some 49 people have died on board. Although most of these were accidents during The War, some were not. The most "famous" was that of a young Sailor who was crushed to death by a water-tight door during a Torpedo Drill.

Another tale tells of a girl who drowned in the now empty Swimming Pool. She is "seen" on occasion on The Pool Deck. It is even said that "wet footprints" can be seen. Another, is the of Cabin B340. It is said that bed blankets mysteriously are removed by unseen hands. This phenomenon has been "recorded" by Paranormal Investigators (much to the amusement of the Skeptics, who consider it faked). That last story involves an annual Halloween tradition called "Dark Waters". During October, Guest can experience a themed "Haunted Ship" with Actors playing "Ghosts". On one Event, a Woman got separated from her Group and was hopelessly lost "below Decks" in The Engine Room. An "Employee" dressed in a "Sailor's Uniform", found her and escorted her back up. When the Woman tried to thank the Employee via his Supervisor. She learned that no Staff were Stationed at the location and none wear Costumes. Perhaps it was the poor crushed Sailor

RMS "Queen Mary" has generated many photographs and films of purported "Spirits". So many in fact, that The Ship will no doubt provide more stories for many more years to come.
