The Mizpah Hotel, which was built in 1907 – was a fixture to Tonopah, Nevada (US). It held the ''Title'' of ''The Tallest Building'' in The State of Nevada until 1927. Five stories, The Hotel was a quaint location for visitors and ''passer thru'' types. Featuring all the ''modern comforts'' of the early 20th Century – to include central ''steam heat'' in all rooms, The Mizpah unfortunately is also known for it's consistent Haunting, by a Spirit known as ''The Lady in Red''. According to The Legend, ''The Lady in Red'' may have either been a prostitute murdered by Her ''customer'' or the ''cheating wife'' of a Man who ''caught Her in the Act''. It is unclear as to ''how'' The Lady met her demise, but for many years – former Guests have ''complained'' of ''someone'' trying to get into locked Guest Rooms, sheets and blankets pulled down on sleeping Guests and even ''slaps'' – especially towards Male Guests. The Mizpah ''used'' The Legend as a ''amenity'' for many years. Closed in 1999 and renovated in 2011, the now 47-Room Hotel is open to Guests...and no doubt ''The Lady in Red'' as well.
