Holy Name Cathedral is located in Chicago, Illinois (US). The Site of The Catholic Institution was built to replaced two other Churches which were destroyed by The Great Chicago Fire of 1871. But while one can imagine that tragic event may have been the cause of possible ''Ghostly encounters'', it wasn't. Time must go forward to another ''dark period'' of The City's History – namely ''The Gangland Era'' of the 1920s. It was in 1926, when infamous Mobster Alphonse (Al) Capone ordered a ''hit'' on rival North Side Mob Leader ''Hymie'' Weiss. It was close to The American holiday of Halloween (October 26th), when Capone's ''soldiers'' found Weiss standing in front of The Cathedral. Weiss was gunned down in daylight. In fact, near the cornerstone of The Cathedral – the bullet holes still can be seen. An in this is the story of The Building's ''haunting''.

Many times since 1926, repairs to the bullet holes have been attempted. Regardless of the technique employed to remove or cover them, the ''holes'' seen to possess an almost ''supernatural quality''. The stone patching never takes, or remains long. Due to the marks being on the cornerstone, obviously – One cannot remove the stone and replace it. In addition, ''Spectral Orbs of Light'' have been reported (caught by camera), ''dancing in front of the cornerstone'', as well as reports of ''dark figures'' seen ''lurking in the alleys which run alongside'' The Structure. Perhaps it is because the building is ''consecrated'' as a a religious ''spot'', no real reports of Ghosts or happenings have been reported ''inside''.
