Cherokee Cemetery is found in The Northern California Township of Cherokee. Built to ''support'' Settlers to The State in the 1800s (after The United States seized California), it is a small Community – with some very disturbing Ghost Stories. The most common of the ''Legends'', involve the first being a rather unpleasant Man who (for whatever reason), killed His Fiance. ''Justice'' came from a Community Lynch Mob who cornered The Man in His Cabin. The Mob set The Cabin on fire and burned in down – with the Murderer with it. It is said that His Ghost can be ''heard'' heavily ''stomping thru The Cemetery'' as if trying to find His Fiance's Grave....Perhaps to apologize? In another ''famous'' Story, a Man and His Son both died as a result of an epidemic. For many years, Family and Friends would leave flowers on their graves. In time, most moved away or outright died. Now, no one leaves flowers. But on some occasions – when Civic Groups clean-up and decorate The Cemetery, One might be so inclined to place flowers on either Grave. It is said that ''whoever does so'', will receive a ''visit'' in the middle of the night at their Home. The story goes that just before You fall asleep in your bed, a small Child's voice will be heard in your ear....saying ''Thank You!''
