 From The Philippine Islands of The South Pacific  comes The Hantu Demon. Going back many centuries, Hantu Demons are almost always female. They like to possess weak people. One in control of their victim, they will drive the person insane (to a point of suicide). Feeding odd this negative energy, when the victim dies -  The Hantu moves on to another victim. Hantu Demons can also possess animals. It is said if one can bury the possessed on their belly, face down and wrapped in a specially blessed white shroud, The Hantu will be trapped.
