Perhaps no other Horror Anthology Television Show was so well received – yet so poorly viewed that The British Television Series, ''Hammer House of Horror''. Only (13), 1-Hour Episodes were films and shown in 1980. Developed by Hammer Film Studios (the Classic British Horror Film Maker of the 1960s thru 1970s), The Episodes were well crafted and acted pieces. Even given The British Film and Television Ethics Regulations, Hammer (as one would expect) – pushed the boundaries. No doubt this was a prime mover in it's cancellation. Cannibalism, Vampires, Witches, Ghosts and Werewolves – a lot of subject matter was backed into The Series. And although Hammer couldn't secure greats like Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, many of it's episodic Stars were former ''Big Screen'' hammer Film Actors. Although it ended ''prematurely'' – there were attempts years later to try and revamp The Series – but all failed (sadly).
