Reputed to be "Magic" Textbooks used by Witches and Sorcerer's, Grimories contain Spells and instructions to be used in Occult Rites. They also contain information in the making of Amulets, Talismans etc. They are also used to "summon" Angels, Demons and Spirits - henceforth subservient to The Conjuror. Grimories are found as far back as 4th Century BC Mesopotamia. Most Cultures feature some form of Grimorie. The term "Grimorie" however, is dated to 18th Century France. Often used for "healing", many were likened to Holistic Medicine Manuel, in actuality. In The Middle Ages, and the rise of Christianity, all forms of Pagan religions and practices. Anyone possessing a Grimorie was considered "in league" with the Devil. Their uses went "underground".
In the 14th Century, rumors gave rise to a book called "The Grand Grimorie" or "The Red Dragon". This tome wad considered the ultimate Grimorie. Linked to some of the "Greatest" Sorcerer's ''known'' in History, it reputedly held the writings of King Solomon and told of how to create "The Philosophers Stone" ' the method of creating Gold from common stone. The Grand Grimorie was even said to contain the summoning "spell" for The Devil himself. Grimories are often used as a fictional component in Fiction writing. So much so, that "Grimorie Stories" were very popular in 18th Century England.
