Perhaps one of the most popular Urban Legend and ''Ghost Story'' of all time – The ''Legend'' of Greyfriars Bobby is known throughout The World. Part fact based and part mythos – the Tale centers around The Greyfriars Church Cemetery (Edinburgh, Scotland) and in particular the ''Spirit'' of a Skye Terrier – named ''Bobby''. The Story states that a Scottish Constable named John Gray, walked His Beat form MANY years. As was tradtion among Scottish and Irish Constables, they were encouraged to keep and maintain some sort of Canine Breed, for both company and as a type of impromptu ''K-9'' Partner. Gray's was a small Terrier, He named ''Bobby''. Both He and His small companion were a common site on the Streets of Edinburgh for 15 years, when sadly – Constable Gray died (1872). Buried in The Church Cemetery – every day for 14 years, ''Bobby'' would come into The Cemetery and lay down on His former Master's Grave. He would not leave until night time – when He would wander off – only to return with the first light. Fed by most who saw Him (and The Church Authorities as well). Bobby was found dead one morning. He was buried next to His Partner.

As the Tale continues, People began to report ''feeling'' that ''Bobby'' was still ''guarding His Master'' – even in death. The ''sensation'' of the animal ''being near The Grave'' was palpable. ''He'' was even said to have been ''seen'' laying on The Grave (still) for many years. Even ''growling'' when those whom He felt ''were not worthy'' tried to visit the now ''curiosity site''.Many Monuments have been erected in His memory – mostly due to the fact of the ''celebrity'' that ''Bobby'' brought to The City (made even nore so by poems and musical (folk) lyrics) about Bobby and His Partner. The ''Legend'' still attracts Visitors from around The World – even today.
