''Gray Goo''

Since it's development as a description in 1986, ''Gray Goo'' is claimed by Futurists as a Cataclysmic Extinction Level Event, ''looming'' in the ''near Future'' of Humankind. With the furthering of what is known as ''Nano Technology'' (micro sized, man-made machines) – these ''devices'' have a plethora of ''beneficial usages'' (most of which are seen in future Medical Sciences). But, what – (as Futurists state), would happen IF such technology began to become ''self aware'' (seen as possible as such ''Nanos'' begin to ''create themselves''). With many BILLIONS of such ''beneficial machines'' being used throughout Human Society (in The Future), WHAT IF ''They'' perceived'' Humans as a ''Threat'' to THEIR existence (or even as ''obsolete'' in terms of ''machine perceptions of Humankind?). Billions of Billions of such Nanos COULD merge into a single (and quite LARGE) ''organism'' (of a kind), and proceed to eradicate HUMANS! How? - quite simple. As the massive ''machine organism'' ''moves'' it surrounds (engulfs) all structures (biological and otherwise). ''Reducing'' the Subject into a ''Gray Goo'' substance (quasi-organic), the resulting ''mush'' of ''what was'' – become a ''food and growth source'' for the ''ever growing'' Nanos. Some speculate that such an ''occurrence'' would take ''barely'' several months to render the entire Planet (and ALL organic Life and otherwise), into a type of ''Planet of The Nanos'' (As It Were). Science Fiction, PERHAPS........
