A ‘’Grave Candle’’ is a wax candle, placed inside a glass container, often sealed with a ventilation top – which is placed on the grave or tomb of a deceased person. Used to mark such anniversaries as the ‘’death’’ of the deceased or some other important date – Grave Candle usage can be found in many Religions (of used for fairly much the same meaning). In Catholicism, Grave Candles (not to be confused with Votive Candles) – are also used to mark dates of Canonization for Saints. Generally, glass holders selected are Red and may have the name or some other wording or phrases are inscribed into the holder. Typically sealed as stated, a Grave Candle remains lit until it naturally burns down. It is then removed until the next selected anniversary date, when a new Candle is selected.
