Gowrow

 First reported in The State of Arkansas (US) in 1897, The Gowrow is said to live in high mountain and hill caves. Described as a 20-foot long snake-like creature with long tusks, it fed on local livestock. One was reputed to have captured and killed in 1898 (even being put on display). As the story goes, when crowds came to see the Beast, it had come back to life and escaped! It is still said to be loose.
