Most European Countries have some sort of Gnome Myth and Legend. In most cases, they are described as very small creatures best suited for living underground. Known for their tunneling abilities, many stories tell of their elaborate underground homes and cities. Considered Elementals , they are often seen in fable and story as Guardians and Protectors of woods and wildlife. Not normally evil there are different species of Gnome. Some have wings, and are often mistaken for Goblins and Trolls. In many cultures, Gnomes are portrayed as wearing conical hats and bright clothing. Some, consider them good luck (and often place small Gnome statues in their gardens for protection).
