While most know the name of the once Great Native American (Apache) Warchief ‘’Geronimo’’ – few now the somewhat bizarre story that developed AFTER His death in 1909. Buried at Ft. Sill (Oklahoma, US) in The Apache Beef Creek Cemetery, a ‘’rumor’’ became known in 1986. A ‘’letter’’ written by a former Native American Army Scout, stated that – not long after Geronimo was buried, Members of the nefarious ‘’Skull and Bones’’ Society, snuck into the Graveyard – exhumed The Chief’s head, and denuded it to a Skull. It was this ‘’symbol’’ (along with His ‘’crossed’’ legs bones) of the Society. In fact, ‘’swearing loyalty’’ to The Skull was (or is) seen as a requirement even today. Naturally, ‘’Skull and Bones’’ is portrayed as a simple College Fraternity at Yale University (Connecticut, US). ‘’They’’ cite The ‘’Skull and Bones’’ symbol dates back to 1832 and that no One would in the Fraternity would defile any Grave. But US Army Records in 1919 do show that ‘’someone’’ did disturb Geronimo’s Grave (stopping short of verifying the removal of The Chief’s body parts). Nonetheless, Geronimo’s Grave was ‘’sealed’’ in concrete with a large stone Monument placed over it (by local Native Americans). The Legend states that Many years later, The Society ‘’sent back’’ The Chief’s Skull, leg bones and several other ‘’small artifacts’’ to Geronimo’s living Ancestors. These were ‘’secretly buried’’ near The Chief’s Grave….as The Legend Goes…………
