An original ''Tabloid'' Article which appeared on The Isle of Man in the 1930s, ''Gef'' was a presumed ''Talking Mongoose'', which made a sensation with The Public. ''Owned'' by James Irving, ''Gef'' simply appeared one day near the family Barn. ''Gef'' could communicate with a ''Human voice'', and ''talked about everything''. The ''Creature'' loved to bet fed chocolate and bananas. Many of The Irving's neighbors claimed to have not only ''seen'' but ''heard'' The Mongoose Gef. He would often perch on a fence and ''speak''. Making Regional news, many famed Investigators of the Day arrived to ''see'' Gef. However, Gef was ''clever'' He never appeared to the skeptical. This led many to believe quickly that the entire affair was a hoax (the product of a fox cleverly ''made up'' with other animals fur and augmented with ''ventrilogist's trickery''. Evidence produced was impressions of animal tracks and fur (as well as photos taken of Gef). The talented Beast simply vanished one day. The Irving Family assumed it was because Gef did like the attention and defaming that The Family underwent. In fact, called a hoax, a lawsuit was even brought against detractors. Oddly, The Irving Family won their Case. Gef has never been seen (or heard from) again.
