Garrote Chair

Popular in Spain during the Middle Ages, The ''Garrote Chair'' is  often misrepresented as a form of Execution exclusively. A device consisting of a specially designed chair made with a long grooved board attached to it's back. The victim would be strapped into the chair and a strap attached around the throat. The strap was passed through the groove on the post. The strap (or rope) would be threaded onto a bar or piece of wood - suitable for twisting. As the strap was twisted, the victim would be slowly strangled. Lessening the pressure and re-applying the same could extract whatever information was needed. No doubt the Garrote Chair was used as an execution device as well. Most Spanish Nations and their Colonies used the device for execution. The method was popular in France as well.
