One of the previously discussed ‘’Nereids’’ (or Nymphs) – ‘’Galene’’ was a Goddess who personified a ‘’Calm Sea’’. Important to Sailors in Ancient Greece, Galene was often ‘’found’’ (in statuary form), alongside Her ‘’Father’’, Poseidon in His Temple. Sailors often carried or had on their Ships, small icons of Galene ‘’for protection’’ from Storms.
