Another American folklore creature, The Furry Trout (aka Shaggy Fish or Hairy Fish, if you will), is actually a 17th Century invention . First seen in early American waters by various European Explorers and Colonists, this creature lives quite comfortably in the realm of the Cabbit and the Jackalope . Seen as a normal sized fish, it was covered in thick fur (of varying color). The legend took on a reasonable explanation in the 19th Century (in Arkansas), when it was said that several crates of Hair Tonic (having fallen into a nearby River), was the cause of the fishes problem . Those rare examples produced were naturally faked.
