Antagonist of the Friday The 13th Film franchise, the series began in 1980 as is considered the Grandfather of the Slasher/Splatter genre of Horror films. Although the title character Jason has had his origin tweeked somewhat, he has a somewhat supernatural background. As the legend goes, Jason and his Mother lived as Crystal Lake. Often in the Summer, it was used as a Youth Summer Camp (and naturally attracted many hormonal teens!). Jason was born emotionally and physically handicapped and his Mother was extremely protective (and very repressive). She had hired a youth girl to what Jason while she was away, but he girl didn't and as a result Jason drowned in Crystal Lake. A tragedy, the Mother swore revenge. Many years later, a legend developed at the now abandoned Crystal Lake, that states that Jason lurks the woods and will kill trespassers. Naturally (it was the 1980s), a group of young adult go to the Lake on a weekend outing. One by one they are all slashed and hacked to bits by what appears to be a 6-foot, 250 pound monster of a man. His face is obscured by a Hockey Mask. We later learn that Jason Mother resurrected him through Black Magic. Presumed killed, Jason's spirit never really dies and he continues his bloody trail of revenge killing through an amazing 11 Movie film run with several dross overs into another famous franchise A Nightmare on Elm Street (and Freddie Krueger).
