An extremely underrated and scary psychological ''Horror'' Film, the Black and White 1932 Film ''Freaks'', was unusual in that it actually used human deformities as some of it's principle Actors. Directed by American Director Tod Browning (noted for 1931s ''Dracula'' with Bela Lugosi) the tale is one of betrayal and of course revenge. A ''normal'' Carnival beauty seduces a Midget performer when She learns that He has come into a large sum of money. After proposing marriage, our Girl plans to murder Her new Husband by poison. Nearly dying from the attempt, our foolish Newlywed soon learns of the plot by his Bride. After another attempt to do Him in, His ''friends'' (other Sideshow freaks) come to His aid. Taking The Girl captive, The Freaks ''operate'' on Her giving Her a ''make over'' by which She will be more appropriate to The Sideshow. She has been transformed in to a deformed human Chicken Creature, with a Human Head (and is apparently still alive). The Movie was initially given a hard rating in The US due to it's depiction of ''real'' human deformities and did not do well (a failure really). It was only 20 years later that ''Freaks'' was truly realized for the work of early ''Horror'' it was. Well worth a look.
