Another practice of torture and execution that is ancient in use, ''Flaying'' involved the act of slowly removing the upper layer of a Victim's skin from their body. Used in many Nations as a form of torture/execution for Treason or Sedition, the Victim was usually tied to a Stake or platform. A “skilled” Executioner would proceed to remove the Upper Derma (skin), with the use of a sharp knife (while the Victim was very much alive). Death would take hours (or days). Death resulted from blood loss, shock and infection. If (after time), the victims screams were to much – they were normally beheaded. Often the Victim's skin was hung prominently in a City - as a ''Warning''.
