In Tahitian Mythology, ‘’Fati’’ is The God of The Moon and the ‘’Light’’ which ''shines from it at night''. While The Moon does not create it’s ''own'' light source, The Ancient Tahitians did – and it’s very brilliance at night was seen as favor from The God. From this light, hunting and fishing could be accomplished as well as protection from One’s Enemies. When no ‘’light’’ appeared at Night, it was thought that Fati was displeased with Man, and was punishing Him.
