''Fata Morgana'' Effect

Named (affectionately) after the fictional Arthurian female Antagonist (and Witch) Morgana LeFey, The ''Fata Morgana Effect'' is a form of common mirage (or perceived mirror image) of an Object at great (but still visible) range. The effect is best seen on the horizon of a Desert Region or on the terminus of Water (Ocean) and Sky. As variables in temperature ''emit'' vapors from either the ground or water, they create an invisible (to the eye) barrier. If a Ship of other man-made Object is seen on the horizon during this ''cooling/heating'' effect, it will appear to ''float'' above the surface (even move as if flying). The optical illusion is most commonly associated with false report of UFOs and other related phenomenon. The Fata Morgana can also ''warp'' or distort an image making it look even more uncommon with traditional Objects.
