These "Swords" were not intended for Combat (nor could they probably be used as such). Similar in design to a Straight Sword (and about 30 to 40 inches long). Most often, they were flat or broad blades with a blunted tip. Moreover, these swords could be either single or double-edged (depending on the user's tastes). They were simple, but many had engravings on the blade dealing with matters of retribution and justice. Prior to a specially designed sword, regular combat blades (or axes) were used. The primary usage of such ''Blades'', were for the ''removal of a ''Traitor's'' Head! The first "known" Executioner's Sword dates to around 1450 AD.
