In Germanic mythos, Erlking was known to be The ''King of Fairies'' (as well as Monarch of all mythical Nature dwelling Beings). Having Pagan beginnings, Erlking may have been ''demonized'' by Christianity. In His original form, He is Human in appearance, but some times given to have ''Green or Brown'' colored skin. He is also claimed to have fauna ''growing'' from His body. Erlking protected those Creatures who lived in The Forests from Human encrouchments. He monitored excessive hunting and tree felling by Humans. Often, Erlking was ''invisible'' to Humans becoming visible only when he ''attacked''. His favorite methods was by either causing a transgressor to go insane or become so lost in The Woods, that they would die from starvation or thirst. Erlking featured prominently in Germanic Medieval Literature from the 15th to 17th Centuries AD. Today He is seen as a ''Gnomish'' Figure, often showing up as a statute in Gardens or on Lawns for ''protection''.
