Charlemagne was perhaps one of foremost Leaders of The Early Middle Ages, with regards to establishing the Foundations of ‘’Modern’’ European History. His Empire brought ‘’light’’ into ‘’The Dark Ages’’. But what is seldom known, is that The Emperor Himself, not only had a ‘’Close Encounter’’ but was almost killed as a result of it. According to official Chronicler of Charlemagne when He lived, St. Gregory of Tours was traveling with Him – on His way to Aachen (The Imperial City), the year was 810 AD. As The Emperor was riding His Horse, a ‘’Bright Disk of Light’’ streaked from The Sky and literally ‘’buzzed’’ The Royal Wagon Train. This so terrified His Horse, that the animal bucked and threw Charlemagne off. Almost hitting His head, the blow would have killed Him. He suffered only bruises and pain. What did Charlemagne really encounter?
