Primarily a Germanic Mythos, Elves seemed to migrate into most European cultures and stories. A popular component in many Middle Ages fables, Elves are considered Elemental Spirits , that live in the woods, mountains and hills. They too, protect Nature and animals from harm. They are often portrayed as young and beautiful (despite the fact that traditionally Elves don't age). Some species of Elves are quite small (2 to 3 feet), while others are normal human-sized (5 feet). Their most striking feature is their pointed ears. Elves are said to possess magical power. Not generally harmful to humans (but fearful of them), in Norse Mythology Elves were somewhat more aggressive and warlike. They are considered to be much smarter that humans are.
