Elaine of Astolat

Appearing in Thomas Mallory's ''Le Morte'' Saga – ''Elaine of Astolat'' was a ''love interest'' to none other than Sir Lancelot (before His love for Guinevere). This ''romance'' happened long before Lancelot joined The Round Table of Arthur. But, as is well known – Lancelot was ''pure and chaste'', not wishing to ''lessen'' His skills with ''physical romance''. In short, Lancelot ignored Elaine. So saddened, despite every thing She tried to ''earn'' Lancelot's admiration – Elaine would take Her own life (which even in this, did not register with Lancelot).
