From Japanese Mythology – ''Ebisu'' was Patron of Fishermen and of Good Fortune (Luck). Noted for being one of the few Japanese Deities to have non influence from any other Asian source – ''Ebisu'' had an interesting origins ''story''. The ''first born'' of Twin Primordial Gods – He had not bones in His legs. As such, Ebisu could not stand or walk. His Parents cast Him into The Sea. But Ebisu did not die, but washed up on the Shores of what would become Japan. He was found and nurtured by a Fisherman. To show His thanks – Ebisu would forever bestow upon Fishermen ''Good Fortune'' in their vocation IF they but spoke His name. Still venerated in October (a Month which is traditionally devoid of Deity Worship), many who still Fish as a Vocation have His icon (Statue) on their boat.
