The Costa Rican Tribes of The Bribri and Cabecar tell Tales of a fierce ''Water Demon'', known as ''Dinamu''. This Creatures (and it's kind) were said to live in sources of water – primary river shallows. Humanoid in stature, Dinamu was also Feline in appearance, with ''long fangs and claws''. They lay in wait for a wayward traveler to try and cross a river shallow, and then struck! The drug the hapless person into the deeper regions of the river – and ate them! Said to be ''scared off'' by various chants made prior to crossing a river, most Modern Scholars of Folk Tales ascribe Dinawu to a possible form of ''Wildcat'', that would prey on animals (and not too against Humans apparently either).
