In Vallecito, Argentina – is a rather bizarre ‘’Shrine’’ with an even more bizarre History. As the Legend goes, Difunta Correa lived in Argentina in the 1840s. With the start of The Civil War in that Country, Her Husband was forcibly recruited to fight. Correa was 8 months pregnant and with no one to care for Her. She loaded up as many supplies as She could and took off to find Her Husband. Running out of food, She supposedly gave birth to Her Child and died in the process. But – miraculously – Correa did not decompose. Her body remained viable, even producing breast milk to feed Her newborn (who was found on top of His Mother, suckling Her by Hunters). Taking the baby and burying it’s Mother, from that time forward, people came to seek miracle from Her Grave. In time a small Chapel and Shrine were built. Many prayers to help difficult pregnancies and other problems are said to be ‘’given’’ in the forms of Miracles from Difunta Correa. Celebrated unofficially by locals in November of each year, The Catholic Church does not condone the veneration, but has no plans to advance Her Cause for actual Sainthood.
