A really COOL movie from 1966 Japanese Toho Studios (who brought us the many Godzilla Films), Diamajin is a rare find that is highly recommended to Monster Movie Fans (and Myth Lovers alike). Filmed in Color, the film is set in Feudal Japan. An evil Warlord is terrorizing the Land. Located at a nearby mountain is a Guardian Shrine of The Manjin (Japanese shortened Title). Legend states that he will protect the land and the people from evil or harm. The massive stone Samurai statue is around 300 feet tall. His stone face is plain and unassuming until he is angered. Manjin assumes a Demons visage. The Warlord hears of the populace's prayers to The Majin and decides to show them who is really in Charge . He and his soldiers drive a spike into the head of The Majin (waking him up). The massive monsters then proceeds to destroy the Warlords Army (and uses his spike to impale the evil Warlord). His job finished, Maijin goes back to sleep (until summoned again). Several sequels were made of The Majin (similar but different story arcs. The music is dark and entertaining at the same time. Very much recommend this Japanese Classic to any true Fan of the genre.
