An Indonesian Deity, ''Dewi Sri'' was portrayed as ''Goddess of Rice and Fertility'' – both seen as ''foundations'' for Life. Scholars cite similarities in Dewi Sri with many other neighboring Regions – which may have meant The Deity ''traveled'' with Trade and ''ideas'', being established as a principle Religious figure in East Asia. Her initial Cult may be as old as the 1st Century BC. While Her still existing Shrines and Temples, show Dewi Sri (always) as Feminine, Her facial features are always ''tailored'' (carved), to resemble the People commonly living in that Region. ''Downcast'' eyes, which are relating to Her gaze to The Earth, Her statues (Icons) are very much revered even today.
