Dating to the 1680s, ''Daffy's Elixir'' was perhaps one of the first examples of Medical ''Quakery'' formulas marketed to ''cure all'' ill effects suffered by People. ''Daffy's'' was purported to cure and remove practically ''all forms'' of Medical conditions experience by 17th Century British Society. Initially, the formulation was saild to have been made from various ''exotic seeds'' pulverized and ''married'' to alcohol (Brandy being the most favored). In fact, records indicate ''Daffy's'' was somewhat ''effective'' in it's use. Even certain animals could be ''healed''. After the death of Thomas Daffy, the formula passed to His Daughters – who while still marketing The Elixir – failed to really follow the formula established by their Father. In addition to this, many People began to create their own form of ''Daffy's'', often featuring completely different and fraudulent ingredients. In time, ''Daffy's'' would migrate to The American Colonies and become what would be known there as ''Snake Oil''. Most often, enterprising ''Frauds'' (claiming to be Doctors), began to market this ''Medicine''. The practice of such would be quite common from the 18th thru early 20th Centuries.
