Known as The Black Book , The Cyprianus was a mainstay in Grimoire Spellcasting. It originated in Scandinavia and is documented from around the 16th Century. Although it s compiler is Unknown, many Researchers in The Paranormal assigned the name Cyprianus . From this, many link St. Cyprian of Antioch as a possible compiler of these spells and curses so much as a means of preparing Religious for their eventual fight with Lucifer and his Minions. At some point in the 4th Century AD, The collection was lost and recovered in The Middle Ages by Witches. Hence, it s beginnings as a Black Book: or one of Evil . The Cyprianus contains powerful spells for summoning Demons (much as The Key of Solomon was used to summon The 72 ). To use The Black Book , one had to just renounce one s Baptism and pledge an Oath to Lucifer.

Still, copies of The Cyprianus made their way into various Theological Seminaries seen used the same way as St. Cyprian of Antioch intended it s use. It is said once a Black Book is bound to it s Owner, it cannot be destroyed by water or fire. There was some practical exercises regarding The Cyprianus, apparently. Many Folk Healers in Scandinavia, used The Black Book (which also contained Healing Arts from Herbs and Plants). A common Tale which grew from The Cyprianus, involves a curious Maid or Servant who stumbles upon Her Master s copy. Invoking it, she brings forth none other than Old Scratch himself (The Devil). Content on taking her Soul for the transgression, The Maid bargains with The Devil for freedom by giving him a Task he can t complete (such as rowing a Boat against the Wind, or filling up a bucket of water with a hole in it). Suitably annoyed, The Devil leaves without collecting her Soul.
